Terwilliger Hot Springs, also known as Cougar Hot Springs, is a day-use only location that is open from sunrise to sunset during the week. Set in the heart of the Willamette National Forest, the springs can only be found by a trail. The quarter-mile trail to the hot springs is easy and clear. You will enjoy walking through the fantastic old-growth forest.

In addition to just experiencing and enjoying the hot spring benefits, you will have the ability to enjoy the serenity of the old-growth dense forest. Terwilliger Hot Springs has some fantastic surprises in the form of its very own lagoon and waterfall.

You will find five pools connected to each other. The springs come from a small cave at about 116 °F (47°C). The upper pool has the highest temperature because it is the closest spot to the source. There is a covered shelter or changing area. There are toilets near the hot springs and in the parking area.

Terwilliger Hot Springs is open 365 days during the daytime. Every Thursday from 8 am till 12 pm, pools are closed for cleaning and maintenance. Avoid visiting Terwilliger Hot Springs on weekends and holidays, because it can be crowded.

Direction to Terwilliger Hot Springs

From I-5 take exit 194A in Eugene. Follow highway 126 east for about 47 miles to Cougar Dam Rd. Turn right onto Cougar Dam Road and follow to Aufderheide Dr., turn right and then stay on the Aufderheide Dr., in 7 miles Terwilliger Hot Springs Trailhead will be on the right.
