Annual Newberg Camellia Festival
In April 1949, Newberg adopted the Camellia as its official flower of the city. More than 400 plants were sold during the newly declared “Camellia Planting Days” and on April 23, a new camellia show was held in the city. However, later a camellia show was forgotten until 2009.
Since 2009, the annual Camellia Festival took a place and developed. The newly built Chehalem Cultural Center hosts the Festival. A variety of events introduce visitors to the stately flower. An informative and interactive camellia question-and-answer session will be at 3 pm.
Camellia celebration included a 5k/10k race, with each contestant awarded a healthy camellia plant at the finish line.
